Happy Monday! Wow, can you believe we are half-way through October already? Dan and I, along with our friends/neighbors participated in a restaurant crawl on Saturday. Here’s just a snip-it of some of the amazing food we tried. YUM!
I have a really good try on haul for you guys. I’m loving all the amazing clothes Express is offering for Fall. 👏🏻
If you’ve never tried Express blouses or button down shirts, I highly recommend giving them a try. I have a few and they launder well (easy care – machine washable) and are generally so versatile. I stumbled upon this leopard print shirt. Last one and what luck – in my size! 😮 That never happens! lol And, it is absolutely adorable. I like that it has an ivory background against the print. It is sheer, so a cami or tank is a must.
This is my first time trying the Barely Boot Columnist Pant and I’m so happy I did. I’m a fan of these dress pants. So stylish with a complimentary tailored fit. And just like their Barely Boot jeans (which I love), they give just a bit of flare. They are comfortable and the perfect go-to for the office. The inseam, for regular, runs 33″.
Outfit Details: Slim Fit Leopard Ruffle Chiffon Portofino Shirt (wearing XS) // Mid Rise Barely Boot Columnist Pant (wearing size 2) // Crocodile Textured Heeled Mule (wearing size 9 – go with your normal size)
This blouse looks equally as adorable with jeans. What a great outfit for a girls night out. LOVE! 😍 Also, if you are looking for a bootcut jean, definitely give the Barely Boot line a try. The dark wash gives you so much versatility – dress them up or down – such a smart choice!

This cropped sweater pairs perfectly with all your high waist bottoms, like this fabulous pencil skirt. And there are so many features to love with this skirt – the plaid print, the length of the skirt, back vent and easy accessibility – no zippers or buttons to fuss with, just slip it on and go. Picture it with boots! With this particular sweater, it has woven almost mesh-like little openings that would, in my opinion, require a cami or tank underneath.
Wanted to give you a close up of the heeled mules I was wearing in the above outfits. I wear a size 8.5 in shoes. But, unfortunately Express does not carry half-sizes in store. Annoying, I know. So, I either slip into an 8 or 9 when trying on clothes. But, if you like these mules (or any of the shoes in today’s try on), go with your normal size.
Cozy and soft is how I would describe this next sweater. It’s a nice neutral pullover that you could pair with your favorite jeans or corduroys.
Outfit Details: Balloon Sleeve Mock Neck Sweater (wearing XS) // High Waist Cozy Fleece Light Wash Ankle Leggings (wearing size 2) // Buckle Peep Toe Heeled Booties (wearing size 8 – stick with your normal size)
Speaking of jeans, when I first saw these light wash jeans out on display, they had a sign that said “Feel These”, so naturally I did. I couldn’t really feel any difference. But, figured what the heck, let’s try them on and see how they feel against the skin. As soon as I slipped them on I was like ahhhh, okay! FLEECE! Game changer!
If you live anywhere in the northern part of the US, consider these jeans! I wouldn’t classify them as leggings, but as you can see from the pic, they are more of a skinny – borderline straight – style jean.
Here’s a close-up of the peep toe booties I wore. Again, Express (in store) only carries whole sizes, so if you wear a half size like me, you’ll need to buy these online. But go with your normal size. The block heel is about 3 3/4″ with gold hardware. Super cute and a perfect addition to your fall shoe arsenal. Love the color!
Where are my plaid loving girls? This one is for you! Love, love, love this button-down plaid shirt. Great color combo – purple/black, so different from most plaids, the length – nearly tunic, and it’s super soft – thanks to the cotton/rayon blend.
Normally I don’t gravitate towards distressed jeans, but I wanted to give these a try, because the distressing didn’t seem too over-the-top. I’m glad I did. They are super comfortable, have a nice amount of stretch and they are a true black (not a faded black).
I love that this cami is reversible. The one I’m wearing is ivory which reverses to grey. It’s silky soft and has nice length to it. My only issue is that it does not have adjustable straps. I feel it runs slightly large. Depending on your physique, you may want to size down. These jeans are very much a classic, dark-wash, mid rise skinny. You cannot go wrong.
If you are looking for an on-trend shoe, consider this slide (or mule). It is so cute and dresses up even the most casual outfit. Absolutely love this shoe – comes in snakeskin and leopard, as well.
Okay, so I reversed the cami to the ivory. So clever! But let’s chat about what I’ve got layered over top. The most fuzziest, coziest, softest open front cardigan. Feels almost like chenille. Throw it over your cami’s, tees, button-downs, turtlenecks, you name it. The minute you put this on, you won’t want to take it off. ❤️
Outfit Details: Fuzzy Balloon Sleeve Cardigan (wearing XS) // Reversible Downtown Cami (wearing XS) // Mid Rise Dark Wash Skinny Jeans (wearing size 2) // Snakeskin Print Lenox Loafers (wearing size 9 – go with your normal size)
Snakeskin is so popular right now, it’s crazy! This easy-to-wear slip-on loafer is a fun way to add some flair to your outfit.
Did you have a favorite from the try on today? If so, leave me a comment. I’d love to hear from you!
Thanks for stopping by! XO ~ Michelle
