Hi friends! The weekend is nearly here – YAY!! Not that long ago, I stopped by my local Ann Taylor and picked up this adorable cheetah print skirt on the sale rack. This style of skirt is sometimes known as a skater skirt. A skirt that is fitted at the waistline and flares into an “A” shape or circle. I was super excited to try it on, but the store only had a petite XS. I tried it on anyways, and low and behold – it fit. I see that Anntaylor.com has sold out of this skirt in regular sizes, but they have plenty still in stock in petite. You may have luck at your local AT store. I’m 5’6 for reference and the petite is not terribly short on me at all. The length hits me right above the knee.
Let’s talk design details – It has a wide elastic waistband for an easy pull-on fit. Cheetah print. The color combination is ivory and black (great neutrals). It does have wool in it, so for anyone who may be allergic or sensitive to wool, please take note. It has a nice weight to it – not heavy nor light / thin and it’s not itchy or scratchy.
This versatile skirt is season-less. Wear it year round. If you decide to purchase this lovely item (or perhaps you own a similar skirt), here’s a few examples on ways to style it.
In the winter months, when wearing this skirt, I recommend you opt for leg wear such as tights. It not only helps deal with the harsh weather, it promises a chic and stylish look. Incorporate some winter accessories like a chunky infinity scarf. For footwear, I love an ankle bootie but feel free to experiment. You could go with an over-the-knee boot, knee high boot or even a loafer would look adorable.

For those in-between seasons, pair this skirt with a basic tee or silk tank and layer with a cardigan, blazer or moto jacket (all are great options). Add a few accessories and your look is complete.
For those warmer months, I incorporated a sleeveless tank top layered under a denim jacket. Threw on a layered necklace and sandals for a comfortable, casual look.
A skater skirt may seem tricky to style, but you really cannot mess it up. It works with almost anything. Pair it with a chunky sweater and boots or with a button down shirt and ballet flats. Dress it up with heels or keep it casual with flats. The options are endless.
Thanks for stopping by! I’ll see you next time. XO ~ Michelle
