Hi friends! Hope all is well with you and you’re having a great week. 🙂 Today, I’d like to talk about the many ways to style a gingham button-down shirt. A gingham shirt is a staple to have in your wardrobe. It’s such a versatile essential. The one I’m wearing today is from Talbots. It is made completely of cotton and unlike other gingham button-down shirts, this particular one has a smaller gingham print under the collar and cuffs. To expose the smaller print, pop the collar up or roll back the cuffs. It’s the little details that make this shirt extra special. Also, I should note that this gingham shirt is indigo (not black) and white and fits TTS.
Of course the easiest way to wear a gingham shirt is on it’s own, paired with a solid bottom, such as how I’ve done with olive distressed skinnies and ballet flat. Pairing gingham with a solid bottom is a safe option and a nice way to show off your laid back style. Add a bauble necklace for an effortless look.

Wearing a cardigan is a great layering option over a gingham shirt. Leave the cardigan open to create a vertical line down the front of the body for a long, lean look.
Layering a button-down gingham shirt under a pullover is an easy to achieve look. You can allow the tails of the untucked shirt and the cuffs of the sleeves to peek out or not. Personally, I like to scrunch and cuff the sleeves.
A gingham shirt looks amazing styled under a bright colored sweater and quilted vest. Team with skinny jeans and ankle booties.

Gingham is perfect for pattern mixing. If you want to play with pattern, consider mixing gingham with stripes, polka dots or florals. In the below look, I’ve layered my gingham shirt under a blazer and paired with cropped denim and polka dot heels. It’s such a smart casual combo.
This gingham shirt gets all the heart eyes from me! lol 😍 It’s so versatile and classic.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a fun-filled Valentine’s Day and I’ll see you next time. XO ~ Michelle
