Ready for the worst

The fire department has to be ready for action around the clock, and that’s why the herzogenaurach firefighters recently conducted a 24-hour training exercise. 38 participants aged between 13 and 62 were in action.

It all started with a spectacular traffic accident in burgstall at the spitzer company with two cars involved in the accident, one truck and four people to be rescued. The next stop was the meisel car recycling plant, where an explosion caused by excavator work left several burns and several people injured. Around midnight, the third call-out, this time without the youngsters. The task was to find a father and son in a forest stump between beutelsdorf and hammerbach, who had gotten lost in the darkness.

Kitzinger argues: when the electric car is ruled out

Kitzinger argues: when the electric car is ruled out

Gunter zankl is very fond of technical progress. On the roof of his garage there is a small photovoltaic system, which generates enough electricity to open and close the garage door electrically. Last spring, the pensioner wanted to take a definitive step into the future and buy an electric car. Only: there is a tangible problem, which initially nips the idea in the bud.

The problem is within sight of his home in kitzingen's alemannenstrabe: dozens of garages built by the city are located there, all of which have one rather decisive disadvantage: they are not connected to the power supply. So the man from kitzingen thought: i'll set up a charging station on my own property and drive up by car to load it up.

“You are there for the people”

It’s hard to say who was more beaming on monday morning: the "gift recipients" or the two savings bank mobiles that gleamed side by side in the sun. There’s no doubt about it, the new female-red runabouts, which are now in the service of charitable institutions, are something very special – and not just because of their unique design, but above all because of the purpose they serve: the handy vws bring people who want to help to people who need this help.

The donation vehicles were handed over by the acting chairman of the board of directors, kronach’s district administrator klaus loffler, his deputy, kulmbach’s district administrator klaus peter sollner, and the board members of the savings bank in a ceremony in front of the savings bank’s head office in kronach.

Digitalization can slow job loss in the automotive industry

Digitalization can slow job loss in the automotive industry

The switch to electric cars will cost tens of thousands of jobs in the industry in the coming years – but the simultaneous progress in digitizing vehicles has been able to absorb most of the loss.

This is the conclusion of a study by the institute of automotive economics (IFA) at the nurtingen-geislingen university of economics and environment, which contrasts the consequences of the two trends.
